Buy Fife canaries for sale

Fife canaries for sale, despite its small size, the Fife Fancy Canary is very lively and a great choice for the beginner. This delightful little bird is quite hardy and very easy to keep. They are not prone to disease, come in all the canary colors, and the male has a wonderful pleasant song. They are also ready breeders and most often good at rearing their young.

The Fife Fancy Canary is a “type canary”, bred for physical characteristics rather than color or song. They are a newer canary variety, developed in the 1950’s by Scottish breeders in and around the area of Fife. It is a smaller version of the Border Canary. With the emphasis on developing the Border into a larger bird, dedicated Scots devoted their efforts to bring back the original standard of the Border. Thus the Fife Fancy Canary came into being, capturing the hearts of people around the world.

Care and feeding of Fife canaries for sale

The canaries like wide open spaces so provide a roomy cage. Provide a cage with vertical bars and small perches of different sizes for foot exercise. Have at least 1 perch set high in the cage for the canary to roost (sleep). The cage should be placed high, so the canary can look down on us so to speak.
The canaries eat mainly canary seed and rapeseed. Vitamin coated canary seed mixes are readily available at a pet store. Greens are also enjoyed and can be offered daily along with a little calcium in the form of a cuttlebone.
They do like to bath, so should be offered a birdbath. Cage cleaning and toenail trimming is about all the maintenance canaries need.

Social Behaviors

They are good-natured social creatures that do well when kept in cages or in aviaries. They are timid birds though and should not be housed with parakeets, lovebirds, or other hookbills that tend to be more aggressive birds by nature.
Male canaries should be kept in a cage by themselves to ensure quality singing. Males can be territorial and pairing up with two male canaries in a cage can cause fights. In a spacious aviary, canaries can generally be housed with other canaries, finches, and other hardbills.

Breeding/Reproduction

The Fife Fancy Canary is a ready breeder making it a good choice for a beginner. Most canaries breed easily and readily if provided with quality food, lighting, secure surroundings, and conditioning. The breeding season for most canaries is usually from December to April. They are best bred in breeding cages. They lay their eggs in a nest. The female will lay 3 to 6 eggs, one per day. It is best to allow a hen to have only two clutches. The Fife Fancy Canary is generally good at rearing its young.

Buy White Crested Canary Online

$260.99
(0 Reviews)
Buy White Crested Canary Online. The Crested Canary, (Serinus canaria domesticus), is one of the oldest "type" canaries bred for its striking tufted crest of head feathers, rather than a special song. If you enjoy breeding canaries, this white-crested canary might be an ideal pet canary selection. Shipping is easy, safe, and delivers right to your local post office. Today, the crested canary comes in a multitude of colors and is readily available and appreciated for both its fun looks and great personality. The crested canary can be on the timid side, but does well in either cages or aviaries, and can live between 8-12 years with relative ease. True Crested Canaries tend to be quite large on average, compared to their close relative, the Gloster Canary. Breeders continued to work, using the true Crested Canary as a starter for the ultimate development of the smaller but wildly popular Gloster Canary, which also has a well-shaped crest. The true show quality Crested Canary is a larger, somewhat stocky canary. Many pet quality Crested Canaries may be smaller. Their environment should not be wet, cool, or drafty, and if they are given space to sunbathe, they should also have a shaded area to protect them from too much sun.

Buy Red Factor Canary Online

Buy Red Factor Canary Online. The Domestic Canary, is a domesticated form of the wild canary, a small songbird in the finch family originating from the Macronesia Islands. The canaries were first bred in captivity in the 17th century. They were brought over by Spanish sailors to Europe. This bird became expensive and fashionable to breed in courts of Spanish and English kings. The red-factor canary is an example of a color-bred canary or a canary that is bred and prized for its color, rather than its song, although their song is beautiful as well! "Red Factor" refers to the gene that allows for red coloring which ranges from pale orange to bright red to bronze-red in color. The Red Factor Canary was developed by Dr. Hans Duncker (a German Breeder) in the early 1900s by crossing a male red siskin with a yellow canary. Some say the yellow canary was a German Roller, while others believe that its ancestor is a Border Canary.  Red Factor Canaries for sale are sure to add vibrant color to your aviary.

Buy Scotch Fancy Canary Online.  The Scotch Fancy Canary, (Serinus canaria domesticus), is also known as the Scottish Canary, Glasgow Hen, Glasgow Don, Scot Fancy, Glasgow Fancy Canary, and Bird O'Circle. The Scotch or Scot Fancy Canary is an older posture breed that went to the brink of extinction sometime around the early 1900s, although it is being preserved by some dedicated breeders today. Considering the rarity of the variety, having a pet scotch fancy bird might be better suited to an experienced and more serious breeder. This canary was first developed from imported Belgian Canary stock during the early 1800s. By the 1830s, a distinctly new variety had evolved by selection in Glasgow. The Scottish Canary is one of the 'birds of position' in contrast to the purely 'type' canaries, such as the Border Canary or the Yorkshire. The ideal was that from the tip of the beak to the tip of the tail, the form should be like the rim of a circle. The more the bird conformed to a perfect circle, the greater were the points awarded. Learning about canaries is fun, and an informative handbook to read is our Canary Handbook.

Buy Yorkshire Canary Online

Buy Yorkshire Canary Online. The Yorkshire Canary,(Serinus canaria domesticus), is a favorite of canary fanciers throughout the world and exhibits a good nature. It may be considered the most popular of all "type" canary birds. This tall, tapering bird with broad shoulders and a large chest, has a wonderful posture and a graceful shape, earning it the nickname of “Guardsman.”  It also has a narrow waist and a rigid, erect stance. This favorite pet canary bird can live between 8-12 years with good care. Enjoy easy and safe shipping right to your local post office from The Finch Farm. This bird became expensive and fashionable to breed in courts of Spanish and English kings. Monks started breeding them and only sold the males which sing. This kept the birds in short supply and drove the price up. Eventually, Italians obtained hens and were able to breed the birds themselves. This made them very popular and resulted in many breeds arising and the birds being bred all over Europe.
